The JEH Chapter held the inaugural meeting of the 2022-2023 season on Sunday, September 11, 2022. We honored Kay Janssen as the Member of the Year; Kay is a former President of the Chapter and an active participant in all the Chapter’s activities. Our program on fertilizing hibiscus was presented by members Micki Dougherty and Nancy Kopp. There were great tips on formulating fertilizers that can be applied as a foliar spray, or through a water ‘drench.’ A new “Pest of the Month” presentation was given by Beth Meehan; she discussed snow scale and how to recognize and control this pest. Our Mini-Show featured many beautiful blooms from member’s gardens. We’re off to a great start for the new year, and if you are reading this and haven’t joined yet, please consider attending our October 9 meeting! You will learn a great deal about the beautiful tropical hibiscus, and meet some wonderful people too!
