The September 2024 general member meeting was held on Sunday, September 9 at the Fort Myers Lee County Garden Council.
Our first speaker was Sylvia Swartz, President of Fort Myers-Lee County Garden Council (FMLC). She spoke about the FMLC Garden Council being an umbrella organization for many garden clubs around Lee County, JEH Hibiscus Society is a member.
Our Second speaker was Cathy Dunn educating us on “This Is Our Chapter”. Topics were: Our History, the International Hibiscus Society and American Hibiscus Society, our charter, organizational structure, and chapter finance.
Our third speak was Beth Meehan who talked about Dieback Disease. A condition that affects the entire plant through roots; dieback is a bark problem when a pathogen enters through bark. Causes — pruning tear, insects, abrasion. If untreated can kill a plant.
